A composite fiber stock material comprising: at least one layer of a fibrous base sheet; and at least one chitosan layer comprising a chitosan coat weight from about 1 g/m2 to about 10 g/m2; • Wherein the composite fiber stock material has an air permeance from about 20 nm/Pa s to about 50 nm/Pa s • Aerating the aqueous solution after a suitable exposure time to the chlorine dioxide, • Wherein the aerating halts the adverse effect of the chlorine dioxide on the microorganism biomass autolysate; and • Providing a volume of an organic solvent to float on top of the aqueous solution, after said treating, wherein the volume of the organic solvent is sufficient to dissolve the lipids of the autolysate; • Wherein said providing the volume of the organic solvent causes the autolysate to separate into an upper layer comprising the organic solvent and the lipids; and a lower layer comprising the aqueous solution and non-lipid materials of the autolysate; • Wherein said upper layer protects said lower layer from environmental microbial contamination (The chitosan is obtained from fungi: The patent discloses ‘methods of deriving unique chitosan compositions from chitin and chitosan-containing fungal biomass’) |
